Adrian is a Professor of Economics, Finance, and Strategy at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), where he also serves as the Founding Director of the Centre for African Management and Markets (CAMM). His extensive expertise reaches from a rich perspective on country competitiveness to a deep understanding on company strategy, making him a sought-after speaker on these critical topics. He is the author of well-regarded works, such as the Visa Africa Integration Index (2012-2020), the Investec-GIBS Savings Index (2015-2020), and RMB’s Where to Invest in Africa Report (2024). His global experience spans diverse markets from Brazil to Singapore.

Since 2017, Adrian has chaired the investment committee of MeTTa Capital’s venture capital fund, demonstrating his leadership in capital markets, valuation, and investment management. He also holds a visiting professorship in Strategic Management at the Rotman School of Management in Toronto, Canada, enhancing his international perspective on market development and business model innovation.

Throughout his 25-year career, Adrian has balanced academia with entrepreneurship, founding and expanding an investment firm that was successfully sold to a publicly listed entity in 2017. In 2023, Adrian returned to his entrepreneurial roots by establishing Boundless World, an advisory firm focused on capital markets, business model innovation, and growth strategy.

Adrian holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (cum laude), an MCom (cum laude), and a PhD in Economics, for which he received the Economics Society of South Africa’s Founders Medal.
